Traffic Accident M1, Death Obituary, News: Woman Critically Injured in M1 Crash Near Brisbane

A woman is fighting for her life after a serious roadside incident on the Pacific Motorway (M1) south of Brisbane, Queensland, that also triggered a large multi-vehicle pile-up and major traffic disruption during the afternoon peak.

According to initial information from authorities, the incident began around 3:40 p.m. when two vehicles were involved in a collision on the northbound lanes near Logan. Following that initial crash, a woman involved in the incident exited her vehicle and was standing on the side of the motorway. While exposed near live traffic, she was struck by a passing ute, sustaining critical injuries.

Emergency services, including paramedics and police, responded rapidly to the scene. The woman was treated at the roadside before being transported to hospital for urgent medical care. Officials have described her condition as life-threatening, and she remains under close medical supervision.

The situation escalated further due to the sudden disruption caused by the second impact. Traffic conditions on the already congested motorway deteriorated quickly, contributing to a chain-reaction collision involving as many as ten vehicles. The secondary crash resulted in additional damage and required a large emergency response to assess injuries, manage traffic, and secure the scene.

Authorities confirmed that the driver of the ute remained at the location and is cooperating fully with investigators. Police are working to establish the exact sequence of events leading up to both the initial crash and the subsequent pedestrian impact. At this stage, no further details have been released regarding other injuries from the multi-vehicle collision.

Northbound lanes of the Pacific Motorway were closed for several hours as emergency crews worked to clear debris, document the scene, and remove damaged vehicles. The closure led to significant traffic delays stretching across surrounding routes, with motorists advised to seek alternative paths while the investigation continued.

Police have urged drivers to exercise extreme caution when approaching crash sites or areas of heavy congestion, particularly on high-speed motorways where visibility and reaction time can be limited.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to piece together how the sequence of events unfolded on a busy stretch of roadway.
