Courtney Temple Car Accident, Death Obituary: Family Mourns
The Winnsboro community is mourning the tragic loss of 28-year-old Courtney Temple, whose life was cut short in a devastating crash at the intersection of U.S. Highway 80 and Weems Road in Richland Parish. Her sudden passing has left family members, friends, and loved ones overwhelmed with grief as they struggle to process the heartbreaking tragedy.
According to Louisiana State Police, Courtney was riding as a front-seat passenger in a 2007 Ford F-150 traveling south on Weems Road. Investigators said the truck entered the intersection with a green traffic signal and attempted to make a left turn onto U.S. Highway 80 when the collision occurred.
Authorities reported that a 2013 GMC Sierra, driven by 38-year-old Allen Stewart of Baskin, was traveling eastbound on Highway 80 and allegedly failed to stop at a red light before entering the intersection. The GMC then struck the passenger side of the Ford with devastating force.
Courtney Temple, who was properly restrained during the crash, sustained severe injuries and was tragically pronounced deceased at the scene despite the efforts of emergency responders who rushed to provide aid. The driver of the Ford suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, while Stewart reportedly sustained minor injuries and was taken for medical evaluation.
Following the investigation, Louisiana State Police stated that Stewart was believed to have been impaired at the time of the collision. After being released from medical care, he was arrested and booked into the Richland Detention Center on several charges, including vehicular homicide, first-degree vehicular negligent injuring, resisting an officer, disregarding a traffic-control signal, operating a vehicle with a suspended license, and operating without a required vehicle license. Toxicology samples were also collected as part of the ongoing investigation.
As the community mourns, Courtney is being remembered by those who knew her as a cherished daughter, friend, and loved one whose life carried meaning and promise. Her loss has deeply affected Winnsboro and surrounding communities, where many are now coming together to offer support, prayers, and condolences to her grieving family.
The tragedy has also renewed conversations about impaired driving and roadway safety, with many hoping greater awareness and responsibility can help prevent similar heartbreak in the future.
